I filed my EB2 NIW in 2007, I 140 approved. Can change employer and move to another state, will it bring any RFE in future for 485 approval.
If I change my field chemistry to biochemistry how is it going to affect my NIW petition.

Dear Folks,
I got my Canadian PR in Sep 2005. I did the landing and gave a canadian address after which I got my PR. After that I was under the assumption that I have to spend atleast 2 years in a span of five years and did not take any attempt to land into Canada using PR. I am thinking of applying for SIN by post while I reside in US.
I am not sure now if my PR is still valid??
Can someone advice?

He is confused immigration with security system
I agree security system and immigration system are two different things but they are closely related. What procedures we follow after landing with our I-94 form are immigration procedures and not security checks. Well i guess i need not extend this topic any further.. because as one post above says that this thread is not leading to any fruitful discussion. I assume forums are a place to discuss and exchange views and ideas and what better place than IV to discuss immigration issues.. i don't understand. Still if this thread doesn't serve any purpose i will edit and remove all my post on this thread. Thanks everyone for sharing your views.

Most sickening part was UPA leaders only concentrated on abusing, denying and accusing. They never told the voters if they did any work in last 5 years. I know there wasn't a lot to tell but still the whole campaign is kind of useless...and the role of media is amazing, they just covered 5 people Maino Antonia, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Advani & Modi as if nobody else exist in the country. Thanks for the advice friends.
My brother applied and got his GC approved through labor substitution. It was really safe in the past. With the proposed bill to abandon the labor substitution, I'm a little concerned if it is alright to proceed.
I've talked to one of the attorney's and he mentioned that the Labor substitution will not likely go away as during the comment period they received a number of objections. But, nothing is certain.
My other concern is if the proposed immigration bill does some good to the legal immigrants, then whatever I am doing will be a waste and I'll be losing all of what I have in my current company (I am very well setlled in a multinational company in a good position). I am torn apart whether to take that risk or to stay put in the existing company.
When do you think the BEC's might complete the processing of existing backlogged applications?
When do you think any of these amendments will be implemented?
Lots of questions.. Your responses are highly appreciated.

I keep thinking about going back and your inputs are valuable in this regard...
But in my case I could think of a few more factors...

The whole issue of asking for I-485 without priority date comes from the 'spouse not able to work' issue......
Once 485 can be filed....Spouse can obtain work authorization and everything falls into place because of the derivative benefits of I-485......
You see if the wait for GC was just 2/3 years...no one would ask for the 485 without PD provision.....
But how long can I keep telling my well educated spouse( Bachelors degree in computer science..MS in progress) to put her career on hold ??
There are cases of marriages falling apart because of this issue...
Now United states calls herself 'land of opportunity' and 'defender of family values'..... What about keeping our families intact....??

Because of that employer and employee does not have any risk and employer always make huge profits without exposure of any risk. Employee also does not have any risk of losing GC process. So our body shoppers are attractive destination for GC aspirants.
The companies which follow rules are forced to pay bench or lay off. So both employee and employer are risk of survival. Companies may be under risk of heavy loss when there are too many people are in bench. That means companies which follow rules and regulations are making loss in tough times at the same time Body shops always make money and worst case scenario no loss no gain. Also GC process is uncertain for those who are working in good companies

First of all, I am neither a donor nor a person interested in spending any of my time & energy (Except filing documents and visiting forums like IV once in a while to check progress) in running behind this GC stuff, as that�s not my priority-simple. But I wish and would really be happy if I get my GC quicker as it got its benefits. Having said that, I am not against any kind of efforts volunteered by people/group, who are very serious about GC and I really respect and appreciate their efforts, but I think I have the freedom to express my sincere opinion.
Plainspeak really make some sense here because sometimes just getting satisfied with a patch up solution would be a bigger disaster in longer run. As person being here in US for a decade and being in the GC Queue for half a decade, I strongly believe EB2-I is never going to be current anymore and EB3-I is never going to get any spill over from the DV bill if passed in its current format. So the option left here is either take whatever you get and hope for the best OR (EB2 and EB3) together fight/work for the right thing to happen, instead of being silent just because you may be a beneficiary of the current format, though it�s not right. I hope everyone here will agree and accept that the right thing would be EB-3 getting at least 50% of spill over whatever EB-2 gets. IV may not succeed in that effort but IV being silent can never be justified.
Also Volunteering is something which you do for the benefit of others without any expectation and I really appreciate all the volunteers here for their efforts but, some of them often directly/indirectly pass derogatory comments on non-donors and non-volunteers especially when they differ on views and immediately they ask, how many congress men you met? � Which is inappropriate and it�s like saying either agree with what we say or shut up, if you are a not a volunteer or donor. Yes in my opinion also companies like Infosys, TCS, CTS or HCL - all of them have abused the L1/B1 visa program. At least with H1B the benificiary gets a shot at the "american dream". However with L1 visas - it is pure high tech slave labour. The L1 visa holders are dumped in client places all over the USA and they are paid even lower wages than their H1B counterparts and on top of that the L1 visa absolutely prohibits the visa holder from changing employers. The typical lifcycle of a L1 visa holder is to come to USA, learn from their US counterparts, co-ordinate between the US client and the offshore team back in India, save as much money as possible to pay off for the 2 bed room apartment or car back in India and then at the end of six months , beg their employers for a new project in USA. And during all this time they have to keep up a brave face - saying they dont really "like to stay in USA". Talk about "grapes being sour".
However these companies typically are financially in a much better position and have stronger lobbies than small time desi bodyshoppers sponsoring H1 candidates - so USCIS haven't really got the guts to look into their activities as compared to desi bodyshops.

Seeing Sep 2008 bulletin I felt happy:). I presume in October 2008 bulletin the EB2 India/china Priority dates go back. But its a mild retrogression for a short span of time. After that the dates start catching up current again. EB2 India becoming current is inevitable.
We need a legilation change for any considerable movement in EB3 India. I am presuming in the next two years there will be considerable changes in EB category immigration which directly relief EB3 India.
