You are grossly being taken advantage of - You just met an immigrant from a green card lottery country who applied for a green card over the internet and got it, thanks to the lottery. Good for him or her! But this immigrant has very basic schooling and is just now starting to look for a job in whatever. You, on the other hand, had to go through grueling interview processes at your current company and had to overcome many immigration process hurdles such as Labor certification, to prove that no American was available for your job. Even then, your green card is still many years away. Even with your U.S.-earned PhD or MAsters degree...and you may yet be laid off and forced to immediately leave the United States. If only you had been born in Iceland or Botswana or Kenya and won a green card through the USCIS lottery from an internet cafe in Nairobi!!!! No such luck though!

Sorry if this is offtopic but can someone explain to me who banned me and why? I didn't write anything offensive or abusive, and I didn't insult anybody. I was just discussing the issues I read in another forum.
If it is my handle, you don't like, well my name is Tawlibann Foggs (it is Celtic name, and quite rare but I like it). My friends call me Taliban jokingly (I know it may not be funny to all of you, and I didn't like it at first, but I can't stop people), so that's why the handle was 'taliban'. I hope that answers your questions, and I mean no harm to anyone.
I thought this forum was open to everybody to express their opinions and discuss relevant issues without insulting others. If you're going to keep banning me, please just let me know that I'm not welcome, and I'll leave. I thought Immigration Voice and its forum was open to all EB immigrants. Great to hear that the event was a success. I was one of the volunteers who had the oppurtunity to call CA members and I just have one suggestion. Please update your profiles with your latest email and phone numbers. Of the 25 people I called, atleast 5 or 6 had incorrect phone numbers. One even went to a fax number. The intent for IV is to reach you quickly in such case but looks like the intent for such members is 'do-not-disturb'.
I had the same problem with phone numbers. About 8 numbers turned out to be incorrect. Update your profile, please. And if you do not want to be contacted by phone, please leave the phone # box in the profile blank.

This brings up an interesting possibility for me. My first I-140 has been approved over email (awaiting physical receipt), although the Successor in Interest I-140 is pending.
Does the I-140 receipt always contain the A#? I will have to wait to see the physical receipt notice!

In the consulting job there is no such thing called entry level. Generally consultant means he should be expert in that area.
If anyone trying thro consulting companies(especially Indian bodyshoppers) they will make you 5 to 10 years of experienced candidate after 5 to 10 days of training. Clients will be charged 100 to 150 dollars per hour and consultants will be given 20 dollars per hour(no bench). Entry levels are mostly in companies like Intel.Microsoft and many other companies. It is very easy to find a company than a candidate. You can find by googling.
Can you please share with me PM some of these companies as I am lookin for a h1b sponsorer for someone i know who has done masters here.... and is fresher... not that he wants to put fake.... he is ready to get a entry level salary and state that he graduated out of school and is a fresher..... just that he wants someone to do his h1b...

I ask the doctor to treat me first but also make sure that my brother gets treatment too.It's just that for the past 15 days not one post reg people stuck in BEC's and one guy who started the thread of unfairness got bashed.Even then no announcement nothing from the core team.That's what bugs me.

It is my feeling that "Illegals>5 years" should not be preferred over "legals<5 years". I also think that this bill makes things tough for<5 years except temporarily reducing backlog(that too is a big 'maybe') . I am not arguing. You do what you do and I do what I do. I dont know what IV will do.

Unfortunately it seems that others have run into similar situations, where an employer has promised to sponsor an H1 visa and then revoked that promise. Here is an example of a similar situation, where the immigrant party is a speech pathologist in Florida: My employer promised to sponsor me for Green Card and has now withdrawn that offer. I guess if you are assigned a visa number, they may put your case as pending new 140 approval. Ammendment may not take much time. So keep fingers crossed. Good Luck.
