1. Were n't you concerned with the security of this country. Have one more Id in your wallet. How does it matter? You are ready to do whatever this country asks you just because you are a non-immigrant.

Do you know that there are citizens from terror breeding countries roaming around in this country as citizens ( because they are not subject to country quota), whereas people from democratic countries like India being subject to all kinds of discrimination just because we are non-immigrants ( indirectly because we are subject to country cap) ?
It took a Martin Luther King to liberate blacks from slavery.
It took Mahatma Gandhi to get Independence for millions of Indians.
I am not assuming all individuals will have the same level of dignity and self respect. If you lack enough self respect, you will probably say US can ask us to wear a chain around our neck just because we are non-immigrants.

There were times when I was really depressed, specially when I got delayed in New Delhi with "Name clearance" for H-1 renew. However, I believed in higher power and never lost hope. My parents (mother US citizen,father GC) always kept my spirits high. I also got a lot of support at my job (when I got stuck in India, my chief pulled all strings possible to get me cleared).
I also had a backup plan, where I could go to Canada or worst, can go back to India where I have an established practice.
Botomline, do not loose hope and work hard.

I called the customer service # on 11/04 and the guy told me that he is sending email reguest for my FP and I got FP notice (my attorney's office also got one) on 11/13. Hope this helps.

Tired of waiting ( PD: August 2001) I finally wrote to both my local congressman and Senator today. My senator is on senate Immigration commitee so lets see what happens. Hopefully something will move.
If this doesnt help I will try Ombudsman next after couple of months. The Ombudsman form has a question of if you have tried through Congressman etc first so we can try and see that.
Guys its so funny when you see ppl with PD of 2003 and 2005 complaining and bitching. Here we have waited 7 + yrs our PD's are current and we are doing OK. Wait sure brings maturity :)

Most status related issues are wiped off after a travel outside US.
What I would worry about most is if any misrepresentation was made to USCIS as far as status goes. Years later or even during naturalization, one's could face audit and possible revocation of an approved application.
I have a similar question that has been bugging me for some time and hasn't gotten a clear answer. Here is the details and not sure if there would be any problem to I-485.
1. My wife came to US on H4 in Dec '03 which is valid up to sept' 06. Given I-94 reflecting same.
2. Traveled outside US on H4 twice and each time got new I-94 till Set' 06.
3. Applied for H1B and got approved for adjustment for status from Oct' 2005 with I-94 at the bottom of approval notice. H1B approval notice and I94 is valid till sept' 2008.
4. Employer (consulting firm) insisted on getting SS number before searching for projects so applied for SS# and waited.
5. After delays received SS card in March' 06.
6. Found a project soon, but the start date was from June ' 06 and 'officially' joined the company from June' 06.
7. Employer asked for a signed letter from my wife that due to health reasons, she is joining two months late - not sure if it is purely for their safety or ours?.
8. Continuous paychecks since jun '06
9. Haven't traveled abroad after getting H1B approved.
9. Applied for I485 together in June' 07 with me being direct beneficiary and wife being derivative. Submitted all documents i., passports, I-94, approval notices, w-2, tax returns, employment letter etc for both.
So the question is not getting paychecks or not joining the company immediately can cause any problem to her I485? I read some where that It is not a problem for H1B AOS as person is not required to join the employer immediately after getting approved for H4 to H1B AOS and it is a problem only if entered the country on H1B and not receiving paychecks in between.. Is this true??
Also, it says on USCIS website that employee-employer relation is critical for H1B and employee can be on vacation, sick, out of pay etc. Not exactly sure what it means by relation.

if she can get the tests done in India, there are USCIS approved doctors in Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and Calcutta.
My spouse is landing here on Aug 15. That leaves only one day to get medicals done. Any suggestions on how to handle this ? Can she skip skin test and take X-rays directly ?

We have been living in a county which has implemented 287g for some time. And I believe all legal residents in my county feel safer because of its implementation. Sure, there is a chance that 287g can be misused by the police. But tell me one law which can not be misused by police.
The thing is that more counties are signing on to 287g. St. Mary's County Joins Controversial Federal Immigration Initiative - Southern Maryland Headline News (http://somd.com/news/headlines/2010/11667.shtml).
I went thru the proposal in Arizona and could not find even one point which might be bad for us. I opted for renewing the AP online on Sept 22,2009.Got the receipt at the same time, and next day which is Sept 23 i sent the supporting documents along with the cover letter,2 photographs ,confirmation receipt ,485 receipt, DL copy and passport copy from Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. Today when I tried to check the status on postal website it says that document scanned on Sept 23 which means they haven't reached the destination, now this concerns me because previously when ever I applied AP and sent the supporting documents they normally take 2 to 3 business days to reach.
Now my question:
1) If suppose the AP supporting documents get lost in mail then can I send the documents again and if in the mean time postal service delivers the first set
In between I see soft LUD's of 9/28 on my wife AP

"Priority Date(PD) is valid for filing the 485..Whereas Receipt Date(RD) is the only one which is valid in the 485 stage..."...Can someone confirm this?
